Garbage People: The Movie is a feature film based on the series. The epic musical adventure comedy is set to premiere in 2025.

Garbage People TV stars Patches and Peel discover they have been replaced on their own show with Ai replicas and their beloved town of Trash has been completely taken over by artificial imposters. Together, they embark on an epic journey to obliterate the Ai mainframe and liberate Trash from the clutches of digital tyranny.

Synopsis[]

As local Trash celebrities and Garbage People TV stars Patches (voiced by Jeff Eastin) and Peel (Brit Tobin) ride the high of their newfound fame, their world quickly begins to crumble when they discover they have been replaced by soulless Ai replicas and their beloved town has become overrun by artificial imposters — even Bodega Steve's loyal genie (Gene) has been swapped for a sterile Ai machine. Patches and Peel realize the only way to destroy Ai is to become Ai and beat it at its own game. Armed with raw determination and pure vibes alone, they embark on an epic journey to find Gene and harness his magical abilities. Their mission: to obliterate the Ai mainframe and liberate Trash from the clutches of digital tyranny. With danger lurking at every turn, will Patches and Peel save Trash and restore their creative integrity before it's too late? Overview[]

Garbage People: The Movie begins amidst the glitz of a successful commercial shoot for Garbage People's beloved stars with Patches and Peel as an unexpected invasion begins to take hold of the town. While Trash Boulevard is besieged by a relentless brigade of Ai bots, Graffiti Steed, an ambitious mayoral candidate, finds himself in a fruitless tug-of-war with the encroaching digital menace.

Undeterred by the looming threat, Steed receives unsolicited counsel from Radioactive Bob, urging him to take drastic measures — or else. With stakes soaring, Steed makes the bold choice to form an alliance with Ai's leader (Sophi-2100, voiced by Tawny Platis) to ensure a winning election for himself though it challenges the very foundations of authority to secure his victory.

As Patches and Peel's world falls apart before their eyes, they make a startling discovery that their identities have been hijacked by Ai-generated imposters, leaving them branded as outcasts in their own town. Fueled by righteous fury, they embark on a perilous quest to reclaim their lost identities and save the town (and their paychecks) from the clutches of the digital overlords.

Their journey leads them to Bodega Steve's, a once-trusted corner store establishment now under the sinister influence of Ai. Desperate for answers, Patches and Peel seek out the elusive Bodega genie (Gene), a magical aeriform being who they believe holds the key to defeating the Ai — only to discover he, too, has been evicted to make room for a machine.

As tensions escalate and danger lurks at every turn, the town of Trash must unite against the insidious threat of Ai, rallying together in a breathtaking showdown of trash versus machine. In a battle for survival, the fate of Trash depends on the unlikely heroes Patches and Peel to fight back against the evil forces of Ai with the help of none other than Gene the Genie.

In October 2023, Brit Tobin teased "Garbage People: The Movie" in an Instagram post on the Fox Studios Lot holding a Garbage People script.^[1]

On November 14, local Los Angeles magazine Bold Journey posted an article with Brit, she stated, "We are currently in production on a Garbage People feature slated for release in 2024, boasting an ensemble of exceptional talent."^[2]

Brit seemingly confirmed the news on November 15 with a follow-up Instagram post with the caption: Girls will literally make a whole ass movie and be like “hell yeah”^[3]

2024[]

January 30, 2024, Garbage People first teased a 2024 release.

On February 29, 2024, Garbage People updated the page's header image to the Garbage People Movie poster. Additionally, voice actress and social media creator Tawny Platis shared an Instagram character reveal in the upcoming film.

On May 7, an article titled 'Black Market Media Rolls Out ‘Garbage People: The Movie’ in Post-Strike Hollywood Amid the Rise of A.I.' was published on AP News.^[4]

Though official release dates have not yet been announced, Garbage People has shared behind the scenes updates^[5] as well as teasers for the film on the official Garbage People Facebook page.

The first trailer is rumored to be released in June 2024.

A pre-screening of the film took place on April 20, 2024 at a private theater in Encino near the Garbage People series opening title location site (see 'Filming Locations').

In June 2024, cast and crew held a private screening at Creative Artists in Los Angeles.

The official release of Garbage People: The Movie is said to take place in Spring 2025.
